2020 Edition

December 15, 2019 to March 15, 2020
Climate, environment, pollution... Let's see how they feel

NEW ePOP VIDEO CONTEST!

Always the same obsession: passing on the word of those who have been confronting the consequences of environmental and climate change on a daily basis for a long time now.
And the same method: a video of no more than 2 minutes, horizontal format 16:9, with no text on the screen and produced around a testimonial that makes people see and understand.
For the rest, it's up to you and your creativity!
Feel free to consult the ePOP tutorials page to help you make your video.

THE SPIRIT

Everyone's talking about the environment, climate and pollution. But in the midst of articles, figures and expert reports, what do we know about how people feel? The video capsules produced by the ePOP community in almost 50 countries allow us to hear from those who are never asked.

PRICES

New for the 2020 edition, the Grand Prix will be accompanied by three special mentions. All videos submitted are eligible if they meet the conditions for the various prizes.
ePOP GRAND PRIZE

10 nominees and 1 winner

For the winner
ePOP immersion stay in Paris with the RFI Planète Radio, IRD and FMM teams

For all nominees

The ePOP Grand Prix is awarded to the best capsule in all categories. The winner will be invited to Paris for a week to receive his/her prize. During his or her stay, he or she will be able to convey his or her message to the world, and exchange ideas with the teams from RFI Planète Radio, IRD and our partners.

French Biodiversity Office

1 winner
Invitation to Marseille (France) in June 2020 for the World Conservation Congress + A €500 grant to design and run a local ePOP Camp workshop in his/her community

Award conditions: the video must deal with a theme related to biodiversity (disappearance, modification, enhancement, protection, etc.).

It's the priority theme of the moment, and one that mobilizes all the scientists who accompany ePOP. This year, let's collect as many testimonials as possible on the reduction of biodiversity. The winner will present his or her video at the World Biodiversity Congress, to be held in Marseille (France) in June 2020. He/she will also receive a grant to design and run an ePOP Camp workshop in his/her locality.

In partnership with RFI Clubs

Club RFI

1 winner
A one-week Masterclass in Paris (France) with the RFI Clubs and ePOP teams + A €1,000 grant to design and run a local ePOP Camp + 5 ePOP filming kits worth €70.

Conditions of attribution: the video must be submitted by a member of an RFI club. If you are a club member, please indicate this when submitting your video.

For almost 25 years, RFI Clubs have been promoting concrete, positive actions around the world. They provide a concrete service to local communities, and ePOP has decided to demonstrate these shared values by inviting the clubs to a fraternal competition. The prize: an invitation to a Masterclass at RFI's offices, equipment to bring back to the club and a grant to organize an ePOP training workshop (ePOP Camp) and a projection-debate (After-POP).
YOUNG DIRECTOR'S AWARD

1 winner
Refurbished Canon XF105 Professional Camera

Conditions of attribution: the person making the video must be a woman and no more than 25 years old on the day the video is submitted.

Last year, only 25% of videos were sent to us by women, and that's far too few. ePOP is committed to promoting female talent, and will be offering the winner of this award a professional camera to pursue her achievements in the best possible conditions.

THE JURY

The jurors for the various awards deliberately come from very different backgrounds, because the issue is universal and so is the commitment. Scientists, media professionals, artists, designers, heads of foundations or associations, project leaders... Each brings his or her own sensibility to the selection of the best vignettes.
